Interpretation provided by laboratory professional staff. New cortisol II immunoassay is more specific than previous immunoassays. Therefore cut offs for adequate adrenal response may vary from literature sources. Please call the laboratory if there are questions regarding interpretation.
Exogenous estrogens (e.g. oral contraceptives) can cause a falsely reassuring response, and should be discontinued prior to testing.
