2016 CLMA Preanalytical Excellence Award

Baljit Singh (former PHC Labs Quality Lead) and Janie Venis (SPH ICU nurse) have been awarded the 8th annual BD-Sponsored Clinical Laboratory Management Association (CLMA) Preanalytical Excellence Award for the "Collaboration between Lab and ICU at St.Paul’s Hospital" project.  This was truly a team effort and included tremendous support from team leads, Kat Martinuk (former Laboratory Operations Manager) and Dr. Debbie Griswold. The award was announced at the CLMA Trillium Chapter's Closing Celebration on September 14, 2016.  Award cheque and CLMA Award trophy was presented at the SPH ICU education day luncheon on December 6.

The Preanalytical Excellence Award recognizes laboratory professionals within leading health care organizations that are committed to patient safety and quality improvement in the preanalytical phase of clinical laboratory testing through leadership, best practices, innovation, and change management expertise.  This is the second year in a row that members from the Lower Mainland Labs Quality Team has won this award.
