FOR PATIENTS
To avoid excessive wait times, an appointment is recommended for outpatient blood collection. Walk-ins will be accomodated between appointments when possible.
The Role of the Laboratory in Your Care
Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is a medical specialty that focuses on determining the cause and nature of diseases. By examining and testing body tissues (e.g. biopsies, pap smears) and fluids (e.g. blood, urine) the laboratory helps your doctor diagnose and treat you correctly. Over 70% of all medical treatment decisions rely on laboratory test results and pathology reports.
Outpatient Services
Members of the public are welcome to bring requisitions for laboratory tests written by their physicians to the laboratory at either St. Paul's or Mount Saint Joseph Hospitals. Both laboratories are wheelchair accessible. Every year over 85,000 outpatients have their blood work done at Providence Health Care laboratories. Appointments recommended.
